Drug and Alcohol Reference Groups (DARG) tackle drugs and alcohol problems that touch directly their locality and communities.
As part of Essex DAAT, they work:
- To prevent today's young people to become tomorrow's drugs users by doing lots of prevention not only in schools but also concentrating on vulnerable young people;
- To support the local police in reducing the availability of drugs.
- To work with Essex DAAT to support more people seeking help and getting into treatment programmes.
- To reduce drug related crime and its impact on their local communities.
Across Essex, there are 10 DARG's covering the 12 districts or borough councils:
- Basildon
- Castle Point and Rochford
- Colchester and Tendring
- Harlow
- Maldon
